On July 3, 2023, all citizens of the Republic of Belarus celebrated the main holiday of the Belarusian statehood - its Independence Day. It was on this very day 79 years ago, on July 3, 1944, that the Red Army liberated the city of Minsk from Nazi occupation during World War II (or the Great Patriotic War as they call it in Belarus).
The main event of the Independence Day is a solemn military parade (this year it was decided not to hold one) with a theatrical performance, after which various fairs, sports and cultural festivals, and public events are held. In the evening, salutes and fireworks are an invariable attribute of the holiday. This year was no exception: the festive events ended with the republican action "Let's sing the anthem together" and colorful fireworks.
