Liuyang City Powder Lines Suspension and Rectification Notice

Dear readers, Liuyang City also issued a rectification notice today after the shutdown of the powder production lines in Shangli County. The details are as follows:

“According to the instructions of the municipal officials within the requirements of the Municipal Environmental Commission Office; and in order to ensure that the fireworks production enterprises are in compliance with the environmental protection committee's work on the rectification of the rain and sewage diversion project of the powder lines – fireworks enterprises in the city will stop using the powder lines from 10:00 a.m. on March 28. The resumption of work of all powder lines will be approved by the township environmental protection stations and emergency offices after passing the inspection.

The main purpose of this shutdown and rectification is to protect the environment. It is necessary to strictly divert the rain and sewage from the powder lines, achieve zero discharge of sewage from the powder lines, and standardize the treatment of waste powder.

In order to meet environmental protection standards, each factory must rebuild the primary and secondary sedimentation tanks according to regulations, and the sewage generated by all workshops must be discharged into the primary sedimentation tank and isolated from the sewage drainage system. All sewage transfers must be piped. Strict management is implemented on the disposal of waste powder; there will be law-regulated punishment for those who discharge waste powder indiscriminately on the premises, and use water to dilute waste powder outside the factory, leading the sewage to affect the external environment.”

The duration of the shutdown is to be determined, and the rectified enterprises will not resume operations until the government approves it.
