After a three-year hiatus, the 31st Macao International Fireworks Display Contest is making a grand comeback. Teams from Austria and Russia showcased their performances on September 16, with special homages to past musical legends.
Austrian team ‘Autcom GmbH div Steyrfire Feuerwerke’ took the stage with its ‘Made in Heaven’ fireworks show, an homage to deceased famous musicians, including late greats such as Freddy Mercury, Amy Winehouse, John Lennon, and Elvis Presley.
Meanwhile, Russia’s team ‘Pyrotechnics Yards of Peterhof’ filled its performance under the theme of ‘Music Box’ with musical choices of the country’s rich folk and classical musical heritage. Classical music choices for the show included Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Sergei Prokofiev, with folk music renditions of Russian traditional songs Kalinka, Bafoon, and Katyusha.
